Privacy statement
Steuber Design, based in the Netherlands and registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce under number 09162322, processes as little personal data as possible: only to stay in touch with you, to prevent abuse and to know how the website is used. This statement explains which data that is and why.
What data we process
- Contact form: your name, email address and the content of your message. This data is delivered by email to info@steuberdesign.nl and is only used to respond to your message. It is not used for marketing and not shared with third parties.
- IP address: to prevent abuse and spam, the site keeps track of how often the contact form is submitted from an IP address, and also how often, while you fill in the form, it is checked whether the domain after the @ of your email address can receive mail. For this your IP address is stored with a timestamp. Entries older than 24 hours are cleaned up as soon as the form is used again after that. If that does not happen for a while, an entry can remain for longer than a day.
- reCAPTCHA: to protect against spam, the contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA. Google processes data about your visit, including your IP address; the Google privacy policy and terms of service apply.
Visitor statistics
To know how the site is used, Steuber Design keeps simple visitor statistics. This counter was built by Steuber Design itself and runs on our own server; no analytics service is used and no third party receives anything. Page views are counted on the server, from the page request your browser sends anyway. Nothing is stored on or read from your device for this, and no script runs in your browser.
We count per day, and only as totals:
- which page was requested and in which language;
- the type of device: phone, tablet or computer;
- the website you came from (the domain name only, never the full address);
- a campaign label if the link contained one, for example ?ref=linkedin;
- clicks on the WhatsApp and LinkedIn buttons and sent contact forms, only as numbers. On such a click your browser sends one short extra request to our server; of that we keep only the fact that a click happened, nothing else.
The hour of the day is kept only as a monthly total. We never store your IP address, the full browser identification or individual visits, nor anything that links one page view to another or recognises a returning visitor. So there are no visitor profiles. If your browser sends the Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, your visit is not counted at all. Totals are kept for at most 26 months.
We do not ask for consent for this: nothing is stored on or read from your device and we do not follow individual visitors. In so far as the data of your page request is processed for a moment to make the count, this is based on our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is used (GDPR, article 6(1)(f)). Prefer not to be counted? You can opt out on the opt-out page; you can undo that there as well.
Server logs
Separately from our own counter, the hosting provider's web server keeps standard logs of all requests: IP address, time, requested page, browser identification and referring address. These logs serve security and troubleshooting and are kept by the hosting provider for a limited period. The hosting control panel produces standard traffic summaries (Webalizer) from these logs.
Cookies and local storage
This website sets no advertising or tracking cookies and uses no third-party analytics service; our own counter works without cookies. Your language choice (NL/EN/DE) is part of the page address and is not stored anywhere. That is why you see no cookie banner here: nothing is placed on your device unless you ask for it yourself, the only exception being reCAPTCHA on the contact form. What can end up on your device:
- Opt-out cookie: only if you opt out of the statistics on the opt-out page, that page sets one cookie (sd_nostats, valid for one year) by which the server sees that your visit must not be counted. You can remove the cookie again on the same page.
- reCAPTCHA: as soon as you click into the contact form or start typing in it, the site loads Google reCAPTCHA. Google may then set cookies and store data in your browser's local storage, and receives your IP address. As long as you do not use the form, nothing from Google is loaded.
We never sell or rent data to third parties.
Retention period
We keep email correspondence for as long as needed for our contact or a possible collaboration, and after that for a maximum of two years.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct and delete your personal data, and you can object to a processing. To object to your visit being counted in the statistics, use the opt-out page. For everything else, send a message to info@steuberdesign.nl. If you believe we handle your data carelessly, you can file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
General terms and conditions
1. Identity
Steuber Design, Chamber of Commerce (KvK) Arnhem 09162322, VAT NL 1015.77.436.B01, reachable via info@steuberdesign.nl.
2. Applicability
These terms apply to all quotes, work and agreements of Steuber Design, unless agreed otherwise in writing. Arrangements for profit-sharing partnerships are always laid down in a separate, signed agreement; those arrangements take precedence over these terms.
3. Quotes and rates
Quotes are without obligation and valid for 30 days. Amounts are exclusive of VAT unless stated otherwise. Additional work outside the agreed scope is discussed in advance and quoted separately.
4. Execution
Steuber Design carries out assignments to the best of its knowledge and craftsmanship. Stated deadlines are indicative; exceeding them does not entitle the client to compensation. The client ensures timely delivery of the required information and materials.
5. Intellectual property
After full payment, the client receives the usage rights to the delivered work. Source code is handed over clean and documented as agreed. Steuber Design may show delivered work in its own portfolio, unless agreed otherwise.
6. Payment
Invoices are paid within 14 days of the invoice date. In case of late payment, Steuber Design may suspend work after a written reminder.
7. Liability
The liability of Steuber Design is limited to the amount invoiced for the assignment and never extends to indirect damage such as lost profit or missed savings, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
8. Applicable law
Dutch law applies to all agreements. Disputes are first resolved in consultation; if that fails, they are submitted to the competent court.
